Captain Danny Guarino
Capt. Dan was born in Tampa in 1954 and has lived and fished the Tampa area his entire life. In the mid 1990's Capt. Dan made a decision to make fishing his career. To that end Capt. Dan opened Shell Point Bait and Tackle Located at the mouth of the Little manatee River and Tampa Bay, there he operated both the Bait and Tackle business and his Charter Business. In June of 2006 the marina that Shell Point Bait and Tackle was located in was sold and the lease for the bait shop was lost. Capt. Dan continues to operate the Charter business from his home located across the river from the old bait shop. From this location it is but a short boat ride to some of the best fishing on Tampa Bay.
Capt. Dan's Flats fishing trips are full of excitement. Just think of hooking that prize Snook in ankle deep water or a 24in Trout in the grass flats or viewing a Tampa bay sunset while wade fishing one of the pristine Tampa bay flats.
Capt. Dan is a member of the Florida Guides association as well as the National Association of charter boat operatorsand the Coastal Conservation Association. In 2005 Capt. Dan became a board member for the Florida Guides Association and pro staff member for Lee Fisher Nets. In 2006 Capt. Dan was appointed as a regional director for the Florida Guide Association. He is licensed by the United States Coast Guard and on the recommended guide list for Capt. Mel Berman. In 2008 he joined the pro staff team for Canyon Bay Boats and Precision Tackle.
In March of 2008 Capt. Dan co-founded as well as Co-host the Outdoor Fishing Adventure Radio Show that aired on ESPN Tampa Bay 1040am non stop Saturday mornings for 2 1/2 years. Then In February 2011 the show moved to CBS Sports 1010am where is aires on Saturday mornings from 7am to 9am. Radio is his second love and Enjoys talking abouty fishing just as much as he does doing the real thing
Capt. Dan has served on several committees that have aided the fishing industries for the state of Florida. 2005-2006 Member stake holder groups for Red Fish and Snook. These state wide advisory groups to the Florida Wildlife Commission have helped shape the current regulations on Snook and redfish for the state of Florida. Recently (2007-2008) Capt. Dan has chaired a task force that have made recommendation to the Hillsoborough County Environmental protection agency on a way to gain acceptance from the general public for a proposed plan that would establish a pole and troll zone in a popular fishing area in Tampa Bay.
